Slovenia at Expo Milano 2015

Slovenia is represented at Expo Milano 2015 with its own pavilion under the slogan "I feel sLOVEnia, Green.Active.Healthy." Slovenia’s pavilion is perfectly located at the centre of events.

Slovenia will be presented through five main themes: salt pans, bees, thermal and mineral waters, hiking and cycling, and the measurement of black carbon particles. MORE

Featuring a pyramidal shape set on a dynamic geometric surface, Slovenia's pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 reflects the geographical diversity of Slovenia: the transition from the Alpine mountains to the Pannonian plains, the Mediterranean hills and the cultivated fields, under which lies an extraordinary subterranean labyrinth of Karst caves, stalactites and stalagmites. In tune with nature, the pavilion is made of natural materials – wood and glass.

World expositions are held every five years and are regulated by the General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) in Paris. The first "World Expo" was held in 1851 in London, at the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park.

World expositions address topical global themes. All countries of the world are invited to participate and afforded an opportunity to address the general public by tapping into the central theme.

The slogan "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" reflects the focus on food as the central theme of Expo Milano 2015. Running from 1 May to 31 October 2015, the Expo will host 147 countries, of which 55, among them Slovenia, will have their own pavilions. The event is expected to attract more than 20 million visitors.
