Coronation in Slovenian language at Zollfeld
This year is the 600th anniversary of the coronation of Ernest the Iron, the last duke of Carinthia, that took place on 18 March 1414 at Zollfeld or, in Slovenian language, Gosposvetsko polje. He too submitted himself to a coronation ceremony with three parts, although certain parts of the ceremony were kept during the next 200 years. What ended in 1414 started long ago. The fact is that the coronation of the duke is the only known true example of a contract between the people and the ruler from the times of prehistoric democracy.
